Mallards on the move 2

In this shot, the ducks were heading toward a free lunch but temporary 'hunkered down' before moving on. A couple were tossing out cracked corn and the birds were coming from everywhere! Because it was snowing and I hadn't changed my method of metering / focus, some of the duck in motion are more blurred than I might have otherwise liked. Aren't they cute? :-)

We are quite fond of birds. Mallards are a favorite of Steve's. During our walk through the snowy aftenoon we saw Cardinals, Robins, one Hawk, assorted smaller birds and many Mallards, some shown here. As long as the creek does not freeze over, it is likely the Mallards will stay. If it freezes solid, they will look for open water somewhere else.

Shingle Creek, Brookdale Park

The beautiful park, two blocks from our home.

Sadie and Kenny

During winter, Sadie typically doesn't get enough exercise. It was fun to take her out to the park, where Kenny threw her tennis ball for about twenty minutes. It snowed lightly all afternoon, making photography tricky at best.

Shingle Creek, Brookdale Park

Shingle Creek begins in Brookdale Park, which is two blocks from our home. The park itself is in the town of Brooklyn Park. The creek runs from this park, south toward Minneapolis, where it empties into the Mississippi river, contributing to that great river's volume.

Snow Dusted Twigs and Berries

I have learned that the various focus options available on my little Olympus must be explored more. Snow tends to be tricky with most but the single spot meter. I was trying to capture some of the frozen nature of plants in this shot. Because it was snowing, my efforts were a bit off!

Sledding at Brookdale Park

Our man-made sledding hill. Most of Minnesota is flat. This is one of the local mountains!
